One of the unique ring designs that has been popular with Sundust has been the Secret Passage ring. These rings combine a golden vintage gumball ring base set with a cabochon that swings open to reveal a shallow secret space. The collection of these rings has contained some of the previous seen vintage glass fire opal and moon opal stones from other rings, as well as a variety of frosted, faceted, and rare vintage cabochons secured to the setting. Due to the vintage nature and metal composition the Secret Passage rings are best reserved for minimal wear or simply as a curio item. And as with my other vintage stone rings these particular ones will also be retired in 2014.
Currently there are two different Secret Passage ring designs offered in Sundust Studio, which have been customer favorites in the past couple years. The Moondust Secret Passage, Moon Opal Vintage Stone ring is one which features the vintage golden plated poison ring set with a vintage moonstone-opal glass cabochon. The brassen ring with swinging cab over hiding spot is slightly adjustable with antique embossed design along shank. The smooth vintage oval stone has subtle Moonstone reflections and interesting textured features underneath resembling a cratered lunar surface. Pinfire pattern offers fiery flashes of play with a hazy opal fogginess effect throughout. Each stone contains variances in its underlying texture, degree of pinfire, light play, and opaque haziness.
Another of the current secret passage rings is the Kaleidoscope Fire Opal Vintage Secret Passage ring which is set with a colorful glowing oval Vintage Czechoslovakian glass Fire Opal. The vintage glass stone has a Kaleidoscope of warm glowing colorful hues with the natural slight hazy opal effect at certain angles. The stones are each unique with brightness and variances in splashes of color and so there is variance from one to the next. The Kaleidoscope Opal stones vary as well from composition of the original Sundust fire opal ring.
